ST. CHARLES PARISH WATER RECOGNIZED AS BEST TASTING IN REGION

A sample of water taken from the west bank of St. Charles Parish was named the best tasting water in the South Central Region on March 8. The sample also placed third in the statewide contest on March 21 in Baton Rouge.

“It is always an honor to win in our region and to compete at the state level ,” said St. Charles Parish Waterworks Director Robbie Brou.

 The South Central Region includes the parishes of Assumption, St. James, St. John, St. Mary, Lafourche and Terrebonne. The officers of the region choose the winners.

The best tasting water awards at the state level are announced at the annual Louisiana Conference on Water Supply, Sewerage, and Industrial Wastes, Inc in Baton Rouge. In addition to the South Central Region, the statewide contest includes Northwest, Northeast, Central, Lake Area, Southwest, Capital, and Southeast regions. 

The purpose of the Louisiana Conference on Water Supply, Sewerage, and Industrial Wastes, Inc. is to promote the professionalism of, to provide for training of, and to provide a forum for the exchange of information among everyone in the water and wastewater fields.  The conference strives to promote and support mandatory certification of the water and wastewater operator, to improve the overall quality of life for the citizens of Louisiana through safe drinking water and protection of the environment.

The mission of St. Charles Parish government is to provide high quality, efficient services to sustain and enhance the quality of life for all residents of St. Charles Parish.
