READ LARRY'S SPEECH GIVEN AT THE 66TH ANNUAL NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
Below is the text of a speech given by St. Charles Parish President Larry Cochran at the 66th Annual National Day of Prayer held at the St. Charles Parish Courthouse Chambers at 15045 River Road in Hahnville on May 4.
"First, let me thank you for coming out on such a gorgeous day for the 66th annual National Day of Prayer. It’s truly a blessing to stand here together as we acknowledge the person who makes it all possible for us all - “Our Savoir Jesus Christ.”
Before I go any further, I want to take this opportunity to recognize a few leaders who have joined us today. Leaders like you continue make a huge difference in the lives of St. Charles Parish residents and we appreciate you for it. I also want to acknowledge our veterans that are present. Veterans, please stand. We can never thank you enough for your service to this country.
It’s no secret that we live in a society that is ever-changing, demanding, and can be filled with tragedy, disappointment, threats to our Homeland and unfortunately disrespect for one another. Days like today remind us that we need to embrace each other and stand united in these times because we are in this together. As your Parish President I know and believe the power of God will carry St. Charles Parish through any unforeseen hard times ahead of us.
Again, I thank you for taking time out of your schedule to be with us all today. God bless you and God Bless the United States of America."
